Yorkshire Dales

My wife and I have always loved exploring new places and discovering the natural world’s beauty. From the rugged coastlines of Cornwall to the rolling hills of Scotland, we’ve seen some of the most stunning landscapes the UK has to offer.

However, one place that has always held a special place in our hearts is the Yorkshire Dales. Something about the vast expanses of green hills, winding rivers, and quaint little villages makes this region feel like home.

And when it comes to exploring the Yorkshire Dales, there’s no better way to do it than on foot. The Fells, in particular, offer some of the most breathtaking hiking trails in the UK. From the towering peaks of Pen-y-ghent and Whernside to the picturesque villages of Dent and Sedbergh, the Fells have something for everyone.

Speaking of Sedbergh, one of our favorite places to stay is the Black Bull Inn. This historic hotel, located in the heart of Sedbergh, has been welcoming guests for over 400 years. With its cozy rooms, friendly staff, and traditional pub, the Black Bull Inn is the perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

And when it comes to food, there’s no shortage of delicious options in the Yorkshire Dales. One of our favorite spots is the Haddock Paddock, a little fish and chips shop in the village. The Haddock Paddock serves up some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever tasted with its crispy batter, fluffy chips, and generous portions. But of course, the real beauty of the Yorkshire Dales is in the landscape itself. Whether we’re hiking through the rolling hills or exploring the hidden valleys, there’s always something new to discover. And no matter how often we visit, we never tire of the stunning views, the fresh air, and the sense of peace that comes with being surrounded by nature.

As we sit here in the Black Bull Inn, sipping a pint of local ale and planning our next hike, we can’t help but feel grateful for the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and the memories we’ve made here. And we know that we’ll be back, time and time again, to explore this incredible region and all it has to offer.
