A letter to our Readers
October 2023
Giving back to your community through volunteering not only helps others, but also cultivates compassion and connection. Whether you coach a kids’ sports team, serve meals at a shelter, volunteer at a hospital, or clean up a park, you make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Volunteering allows us to put ideals like kindness and service into action. It takes us outside our normal routines and expands our perspectives. By working side-by-side with fellow volunteers from diverse backgrounds, we form bonds and better understand our shared humanity.
The gift of our time and care lifts up individuals in need and strengthens the entire community. Volunteers at the animal shelter comfort abandoned pets. Habitat for Humanity builders provide homes for families. Docents at museums keep arts and culture alive. There are countless ways to contribute.
Look around your neighborhood and city, find a cause close to your heart, and make the commitment to help out. Encourage your family and friends to join in. No effort is too small. Even just a few hours per month can have an enormously positive impact.
The Crawleys shine as a beacon of refreshing light with the example they set as volunteers. The community rallied around them in their time of need, and now they’re rallying and giving back to their community. Check out their beautiful, inspiring story!
Ask yourself, what can I do to give back to my community? We thank the businesses that give back to their community by supporting this beautiful publication. We encourage our readers to support them – always remember to shop local and support your community.
